Wholesale Merchandise Buying
You can buy wholesale merchandise and find companies who will sell in single pieces, small lots and large lots. Don't be fooled by the wholesale directory books that you see advertised everywhere. Most of the time these are worthless lists of companies with phone numbers that are out of date. secondly, you want unique products not products that already saturate the market.
You'll need a Tax ID number so you can buy direct from wholesalers and liquidators. You can contact your local state office and ask for one.
Secret Tip:You can search for places to buy wholesale in your local yellowpages. Look under manufacturers, liquidators, surplus and wholesale distributors. Once you find a wholesale dealer you can ask them if they know of any other dealers in the area. You can also check and see if your local library can help. Most libraries have a business section and sometimes a business librarian. You can search through publications by state and find suppliers that are close to you. You can also search for suppliers by product. One of the books you'll find helpful is Thomas' Register. Some libraries have online access, so if you have a home based business you can access library publications from home on your computer.
I found that searching for wholesale suppliers on the internet is another good resource. You will need to make sure you search for unique products that not everyone else has and also check the company out to make sure that they are a company that you can build a solid business relationship with.
